- Death notes
- Barney was killed after his F4U-1 Corsair Torque rolled at low speed/low altitude, with gear and flaps down. The application of sudden power in this condition causes the Aircraft to roll violently to the left, at low Altitude he had no height to recover. The Aircraft impacted the central area of the Waiuku Golf course.Public - Paapaka Brown - Direct descendant - 2 February 2022 - Personal files, conversation with former WW2 Corsair Pilot.
- Killed when his F4U-1 Corsair Torque Rolled and crashed into the Waiuku Golf Course. The Corsair has a a large 3 blade propeller, the Torque produced by the 2000hp engine and large 3 blade propeller was at low airspeeds with landing flap/gear extended caused the Aircraft to roll with application of full power. The result at low altitude was a stall and crash with no height sufficient to recover. The Aircraft was lost and Barney was trapped and died in the Aircraft.Public - Paapaka - Direct descendant - 2 February 2022 - Military records
- Barney was killed in his Corsair Aircraft when it crashed at low altitude and low Airspeed into the Waiuku Golf course. The cause of the crash was a Torque Roll due to the size of the Corsairs propellers and the effect it has on the Aircraft at low Airspeeds with application of throttle.Public - Paapaka - Direct descendant - 2 February 2022 - Ex RNZAF Pilot and documentation.
