Te kolokolo
human history
Te kolokolo. Two-ply coconut sennit cordage. This example of kolokolo is light brown in colour and highly textured. The raw fibres of coconut husk are rolled together in 2-ply to create long lengths of cordage. Cordage serves many household purposes for Tuvaluan communities, although the more modern preference has now shifted to the likes of nylon or twine.
