Kali ni Bitu

human history

Kali bitu. Bamboo kali. This kali bitu is made from composite materials and consists of a segment of bitu (bamboo) for the tolo ni kali (body of the kali), two triangular yava ni kali (support legs for the kali) carved from kau (wood) braided magimagi (coconut sennit). The light yellow coloured bitu is naturally sealed at each end. Seven notches are carved into the rim of one side of the bitu. Each yava is dark brown in colour and flared towards the base.
