Pia akamanea. Jewellery box. For storing treasures and small items. Separate lid and rectangular box each carved from solid pieces of tamanu (mahogany). Decorative inlay of parau (mother of pearl shell) fitted into the sides of the box and the lid: 3 tiare (flower) motifs and three small triangles along each long side of the box; 1 tiare motif on each short side of the box; 2 triangles of parau inlayed on the lid. Highly polished surface. Dark brown in colour.
