Liku

human history

Liku. Skirt. Made of plant fibres of the Baka tree (Banyan tree). Waistband consists of a wide strip of natural coloured voivoi (pandanus) with brown coloured rolled vau (hibiscus) bound around the bundled sections of dyed-black plant fibres from the Baka tree, which are looped around the strip of voivoi forming the lengths of the liku. The vau is then tied off at the edges of the waistband and at each end another length of vau is attached.
