Pala hega
human history
Pala hega. Feather head dress. Pala hega were worn by chiefly men of high rank, or warriors. The pala hega was placed at the back of the head with strips of hiapo wrapped around to secure it. This pala hega consists of pale yellow fulu hega (feathers of the hega bird) and a single, long white tailfeather of the tuaki bird. The fulu plumes are tied together and lashed with pulu (coconut sennit) on a short shaft of akau (wood).
