Titi fou

human history

Titi fou. Skirt of lace bark. This is a waist garment made from lau fou (lace bark). The hip section features fakafiti (twill weave) that is bordered with a separate piece of baste. This piece has been repeatedly folded and tacked down. In the same fibre material, twenty six fakamanaia (embellishments) have been tacked down in two rows across the hip section. The remaining selvedge has been left loose to form the bottom half of the titi (skirt). The titi is an undyed, natural pale yellow in colour. The two top corners feature braided fastenings.
