human history
Te tanai. Hafted adze tool. Clam shell adze blade. This is an adze blade. It is a component of a tool used in cutting hard materials. It has been carved from te aubunga (clam shell; tridacna gigas). It is convex and shaped like a trapezoid. The blade edge tapers to form an edged area for contact when in use. The convex surface is off-white in colour with darkened areas that define fragments of the blade. The base is flat.
