'Arā. Adze blade. Large in size, and carved from a single piece of ofa'i (stone). The 'arā has a moderately flat bevel, with a sharp cutting edge, and is elliptical in cross-section. High polish overall, with striations visible across both sides of the blade. Dark grey/black in overall colour with streaks of light brown/grey acros both sides of the 'arā. Possible flaking or chipping visible across the butt. Chipping visible across the cutting edge.
