Toki. Adze. Multipurpose tool used for carving wood and other materials. Carved from basalt toka (stone). Dark in colour. Trapezoidal in cross-section. Sharp cutting edge. Shallow bevel slightly rounded towards cutting edge. Smooth sides, one side has large chip. Front of the blade is flat and highly polished. Prominent shoulder. From shoulder reduced to butt and terminates at poll. Butt left pecked. Poll has two raised protrusions. Poll left flaked. Overall surface treatment is mostly highly polished.
