Te Aho Mutunga Kore

Te Aho Mutunga Kore is our fibre knowledge exchange centre launching in 2023 with the generous support of Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage.

Te Aho Mutunga Kore will ensure sustained engagement with textile and fibre collections held by the Museum, to strengthen the ties (aho) between community and their material culture heritage, creating a safe pathway for taonga tuku iho (knowledge transmission).

Tui Tui Tuia

Tui Tui Tuia

Over the next two years Te Toki A Tāpiri, the waka at the heart of Te Marae Ātea Māori Court, will be undergoing an important restoration. This project, named Tui Tui Tuia, will see both the lashings of the waka, and its fascinating history reinvigorated and revitalised on an unprecedented scale.
