The exhibition offers a unique blend of science, history, and pop culture, to present the natural environment and the cultural impact of blood feeding creatures in both our real and imaginary worlds.

From its origins in ancient folklore to its emergence as a key figure of Gothic literature, the vampire has carried with it powerful ideas about blood. Join Associate Professor Allan Cameron from the University of Auckland as he explores this history through the portrayal of vampires and blood on the silver screen.
Bloodletting has been used for over 3,000 years to treat diverse conditions including inflammation, bleeding and mental disorders. Join Dr George Chan, and dive into the science behind one of the oldest medical practices in the world. Hear how innovations in medical technology but also natural solutions like leeches are keeping the practice of bloodletting alive today.
Pekapeka, the only native land mammals in Aotearoa New Zealand, are largely unknown due to their small size, rarity, nocturnal habits, and elusive nature.
