As a monument Stonehenge is both complex and curious. Why is it constructed of different rocks and why are some of these stones clearly part of other monuments? Why does it possess a unique architectural form? Join Colin Richards, Professor of Archaeology at the Archaeology Institute at the University of Highlands & Islands in Scotland, as he explores answers to these questions in his in person lecture.

The last two decades have witnessed a renewed and invigorated interest in Stonehenge, manifesting in a series of major fieldwork projects. It now seems as though Stonehenge is becoming familiar - less of a mystery than it once was - but what are the questions that now face archaeologists?

Members: The Stones of Stonehenge

Join Dr Andy Brown, Principal Archaeologist and Director of Horizon Archaeology, for his lecture on the Stones of Stonehenge project. The project is a joint endeavour between several leading UK archaeologists, which has involved a large-scale excavation and geophysical survey around the Preseli hills – the source of the bluestones of Stonehenge. The project has sought to both understand the origins of the stones and the wider Neolithic landscape of West Wales.
